HM800 Classic GrainGage Chamber Sizes

The HM800 Classic GrainGage offers larger and smaller chamber sizes for when different quantities of grain are measured.

  • Volume: 50–60 cubic in
  • Volume: 80–90 cubic in
  • Volume: 200–210 cubic in
  • Plot Size: 2-4 lb (.91–1.8 kg)
  • Plot Size: 4-6 lb (1.8–2.7 kg)
  • Plot Size: 6 lb or more (2.7 kg)
  • Test Weight/Moisture: Will not receive test weight or moisture with less than 1.3–1.8 lb (.59–.82 kg) depending on the sample.
  • Test Weight/Moisture: Will not receive test weight or moisture with less than 1.8–2.5 lb (.82–1.1 kg) depending on the sample.
  • Test Weight/Moisture: Will not receive test weight or moisture with less than 4.8–5.5 lb (2.2–2.5 kg) depending on the sample.
  • Caution: For crops other than canola or wheat, there is a high potential for clogging. This chamber size is not recommended for barley or large sunflower seeds.
    

 

These numbers in the table above are purposefully set with low values to approximate worst-case cycle times. The weight recommendations vary depending on the grain type and test weight.

Plot-to-Plot speed is dependent on:

The size of the chamber and the amount of grain harvested per plot determines the number of cycles that are needed to process the plot. The more cycles that are required, the slower the plot-to-plot speed becomes. For example, it takes about four cycles to harvest a 25 lb plot with a 3.5 L chamber (around 30–35 seconds).
