Integrating Custom Hardware
August 2010
Juniper Systems rugged handheld computers can have custom hardware integrated within and/or outside of certain specific areas (referred to as modules) of the rugged, water-tight case housing. Also, additional case housing (referred to as expansion pods, packs, or extended caps) can be added to the handheld to provide more room (and possibly a water-tight seal and ruggedization) for larger dimension hardware. Integrated electronic hardware can be powered by the handheld computer as discussed in our Power Devices through Ports or Card Slots FAQ webpage. Please contact sales@junipersys.com for additional and more detailed information (some information is proprietary and requires a signed mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)).
Note: Custom hardware integration that penetrates the standard water-tight case housing of the Field PC (potentially exposing the normal internal electronics of the handheld computer to environmental elements) or that exceeds our electronic specifications needs to be reviewed by our engineers and our support team to resolve questions regarding possible immediate voiding of the handheld computer's product warranty. It is highly recommended to consult with our engineers throughout the design of hardware to be integrated.
Listed in the table below are the current modules and additional case housing provided for each of our rugged handheld computers, what electronic interfaces are available within these areas, and some previously developed integrated electronic hardware that is now generally available.
